As Molly at Popsugar notes, Sharon Stone was even more annoyingly ubiquitous than usual over the Oscars weekend’Molly has links to three diferent celebrity galas where Sharon was mugging for the cameras. Oddly enough, however, she failed to hit the red carpet for the Golden Rasberry Awards, where Sharon and Basic Instinct 2 took four awards: Worst Film, Worst Prequel or Sequel, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Actress. (Sadly, the Wayans brothers edged out “Sharon Stone’s breasts” in the Worst Screen Couple category.) That doesn’t match Showgirls’ 13-Razzie sweep of the awards (an even more staggering feat when you consider there were only twelve categories that year), but it’s still an impressive achievement. Other winners have shown up to accept the awards, and it would probably help Sharon’s image if she just accepted the fact that the only thing she’s good at is giving bad performances in bad movies and learned to laugh about it. But I suspect Sharon takes herself a wee bit too seriously to consider that option. Maybe next year the Razzie people can add to Sharon’s collection by giving her an award for Worst Sport.
