Yes, I’ve long referred to Trent Reznor as Santa Reznor, but things have gotten much more serious in that endeavor. Through his twitter account, Reznor helped raise over $900,000 for Eric De La Cruz, an ailing fan who needed a heart transplant. For his efforts, Reznor was recently honoured with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from New York state, but I have a feeling that this meant very little to him in comparison to watching Eric get better.
Unfortunately, after two years of illness, Eric’s weakened condition was such that his body wouldn’t have made it through the transplant procedure, and all of his recent progress was quickly dashed away by an infection. On July 4, Eric De La Cruz lost his battle.
