So, the MTV Movie Awards happened last night. My amazing friend, MK — who remains convinced that, one day, we’ll paint our fingernails green (“I think it’s pretty, I reply!”) and marry in a Cabaret-inspired ceremony — covered the red carpet. Check out his photos.
During the actual awards ceremony itself, producers certainly aimed to match the level of absurdity of the 2007 VMAs, which featured Britney’s awful hair extensions & Sarah Silverman’s vagina lips. What better way to do so than with the kings of controversy, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eminem? After all, both could use the publicity to promote their respective projects (despite the fact that Eminem’s album leaked & he still made #1 Billboard chart), and Em hadn’t yet fulfilled his Slim Shady controversy quota for the evening. This was absolutely a publicity stunt. They’re both performers, mates!
MTV has video of the incident, if you haven’t yet wasted your valuable cubicle time to watch it. Sorta priceless.

I’m disturbed just watching it. I can’t help thinking Eminem got a little more than he was bargaining for there.
Yeah, I wouldn’t doubt that perhaps the finer details weren’t revealed by Bruno in their initial plan. Maybe the original version envisioned Bruno landing to sit in Eminem’s lap & Bruno took it a bit too far.
The video I saw (I cannot bear to watch it again) had a distinct hetero male OMG THERE’S A GUY’S ASS IN MY FACE look that I think is probably beyond Eminem’s acting ability. So I think there was probably some element of surprise here, and some of his pissed-off-edness was probably real.
Of course it probably goes without saying at this point that anyone who signs an agreement to do anything with this guy is an idiot.
