Whatever might be happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, and points east, Al Qaeda’s online affiliates continue to use the ‘nets to distribute propaganda that manages to be simultaneously full of hate and full of WTF?-level nuttiness. The latest example comes from an AQ-linked website in Glasgow, which has distributed a video promising death to that icon of western cultural values, Justin Timberlake. (No, there’ll be no link to the website or the video. Bad enough that YouTube continues to host crap like this.)

To be honest, the top name on the death list these poo-flinging monkeys sent out was David Beckham, but that makes even less sense than Sexyback. Footballers Wayne Rooney and Thierry Henry also got their share of attention, as did rapper P Diddy. Pictures of these celebrities were accompanied by various sinister slogans, some better than others. “Every soul shall taste of death,” for example, hits the right note of pure Lovecraftian evil. Becks’ slogan, on the other hand—”what made u among the losers?”—conjures up an image of some teenage text messager strapping himself into a C4 vest. It’s really going to suck if we start getting attacked by people who look like the cast of Saved by the Bell with rabies.
