At least a dozen male-oriented skin-maximizing websites have declared that, on August 4th, the ultimate sacrifice shall be made for one entire day. That is, Megan Fox shall be ignored in an organized “media blackout” of sorts:
Why the diss? All the editors feel the starlet has become a bit too overexposed — and they’re not just talking about her fashion sense. Fox has appeared on the covers of Esquire, Empire, Maxim, GQ UK, Entertainment Weekly and Elle this year alone, plus she did heavy press for her role as Mikaela Banes in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”
“You can have too much of a good thing,” says AskMen.com’s Editor-in-Chief James Bassil, who tells us, “We’re joining in the media blackout and giving our readers a one-day reprieve from the woman we’ve been drowning in all summer.”
This seems incredibly stupid, for these websites are only handing Fox more publicity by talking about the whole “boycott” en masse. Further, by essentially putting together a group press release, these websites are only making their own self-serving purpose rather transparent. Hell, it ain’t like they could stand to make this “sacrfice” for a week or even a month without “Megan Fox tit traffic.”
If this were a silent boycott or done independently by each particular website (and without a fucking advance statement to the press, that would be different. After all, there are many overexposed celebs out there, but as far as currently working actresses go, Hayden Panettiere and Katherine Heigl are two faces that I’m very tired of seeing this summer. Added to that list are all reality television stars and any guy that adds “dating Jennifer Aniston” to his Hollywood resumé.
