Man, this was a long time coming. Pauly Shore has been begging for a serious beating ever since he first crawled in front of the cameras on MTV, launching that network on its continuing downward spiral, and last night someone finally gave it to him. The Superficial has a decent copy of the video from Pauly”’s brief appearance in Odessa, Texas, featuring multiple replays of the magical moment when a heckler took Pauly down with a single punch. Yes, the heckler”’s an obnoxious lout. So are most of the people in the audience. But, c”’mon: these people paid to see Pauly Shore. The man won an award for Worst New Star of the Decade, for crying out loud. When you reach out to this kind of audience, Pauly, you really ought to expect this kind of treatment. The takedown doesn”’t have quite the satisfying sense of closure you get from The Simpsons”’ Y2K episode, where Pauly was launched by NASA into the heart of the sun (along with Rosie, for bonus laffs). But one day we”’ll be able to put a man on the sun, and until then seeing Pauly get pounded like a Swiss steak makes a pretty good substitute.
