Bloody hell, mates! Our antihero, Pete Doherty, will soon be popping in as a pinch hitter for The Who’s renowned guitarist. Apparently, vocalist Roger Daltrey became rather enamored with the junkie wastrel when Doherty performed at the wake of Daniel Squires, a teenage fan who died from cancer. So, Daltrey, who apparently is not aware of our bloke’s gig-skipping reputation, invited Doherty to join him in performing a set of Who songs together for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity on Jan. 12 at the Bristol Academy:
Roger was really impressed and touched when Pete performed for Daniel.
He has told Pete to choose a list of Who songs and they will perform them together. They are both really excited.
Fortunately, this is just a one-night gig, but this bizarre announcement may very well forecast the ominous black cloud of the apocalypse. Incidentally, I almost titled this post as “2 Petes, 1 Cup,” but I’m not sure that the Doherty-related hate mail would be quite as satisfying as the last time. ‘Cuz, you know, Roger Daltrey has street cred and whatnot. Good times, mate.

Now that is one of the most awkward association I’ve ever seen since Hayden Panettiere and Lilo
