Pete Doherty showed up earlier today at his home away from home, the Thames Magistrate Court, for his latest drug review. His judge must be a big Babyshambles fan, because per the usual routine, she coddled him like an infant:
Although he arrived 30 minutes late, District Judge Jane McIvor told Doherty: “There’s no obligation for you to turn up to the reviews. The fact you’ve turned up shows co-operation – more than co-operation.”
The judge sympathised with him, saying: “It’s a hard road, isn’t it? It’s not easy. All we can do is provide the network. You have to do all the hard work.”
On his way out of court, Doherty posed and signed autographs for fans while eating a sausage roll.
He was picked up in a black BMW. As he got into the car, he picked up a guitar from the back seat and strummed a few notes to the press before he was driven away.
That’s kinda cute, ya know, that he brings his guitar everywhere to strum away for any paparazzi who will listen to his tale of woe.
In addition, news outlets are going wild about the story that Pete’s gone broke, but this is much ado about very old news. Doherty has been in debt ever since he got kicked out of The Libertines in 2004. His most recent financial statements show a loss of 21,731 pounds in 2006, but what do you expect for a guy who bought eight new Jaguars in a year? Whenever his current vehicle becomes impounded, he buys a new one instead of paying the rather negligible fines.
Then again, Kate Moss let him move in, so I guess he doesn’t have to worry about making the rent any longer.
