As expected, we’re all over any breaking news concerning yesterday’s Doherty arrest. This latest news of our antihero, released due to a lack of court jurisdiction, comes as no surprise:
Pete Doherty was released Tuesday without being charged with breaching his bail conditions after authorities failed to get him to court on time.
Doherty, who has been undergoing court-ordered rehabilitation treatment, was arrested Monday in east London on suspicion of possessing drugs, police said.
The charge of breaching his bail conditions was dismissed because the 28-year-old rocker had not been brought to court within 24 hours, said prosecutor Anjulika Vatish.
We fail to accept the notion that law enforcement simply forgot to get Doherty to court on time. This is just utter crap, and we’d be willing to bet that Pete pulled out a harmonica and guitar and lulled officers into submission with endless variants of “What Katy Did.” Admittedly, this would distract us too.
A few more songs mate! Just a few more songs . . .
