It seems bizarre that an organization dedicated to working a paradigm shift for “the way awareness is raised for African issues” would use Naomi Campbell as a spokesperson. Yet, there’s the super-tantrum-model herself, promoting the 3rd Annual THISDAY Festival and it’s “Africa Rising” theme:
Nigerian media mogul Nduka Obaigbena [above left] is taking his brain-child cross-continent with scheduled events in Abuja, July 11, Lagos, July 13, Washington DC, August 1, and London, October 14.
Supporting the festival, which celebrates Africa’s achievements, Naomi Campbell said: “It is fantastic that Mr Obaigbena is helping improve the positive awareness of Africa as too many people have stereotypical and negative views of the continent. He obviously had a remarkable vision, a real passion and a special message, as opposed to just being a promoter. The more I found out about his mission to promote positivity and understanding, the more I wanted to be involved going forward with the ‘Africa Rising’ festival.”
Yes, the ideal spokesmodel for “Africa Rising” just happens to have rage issues. Naomi Campbell’s method of “promot[ing] positivity and understanding” necessarily involves beating an employee with a hotel phone, repeatedly hitting a different employee with a cell phone, and kicking an airline employee in the groin. Now, Nelson Mandela doesn’t even want Naomi attending his 90th birthday festivities. However, Mandela was wise enough to not issue this uninvitation while standing next to Naomi. Good times, mates.
