With the untimely passing of a public figure, even someone like Anna Nicole Smith (and let”’s face it, she wasn”’t exactly Princess Di), the mean-spirited snark that”’s basically our stock in trade here at Agent Bedhead sounds even jerkier than usual. Not that we”’re going to let that stop us.
Most of the gossip blogs presented the news of Anna Nicole”’s death with at least a little taste and sensitivity. Gawker ran a particularly good obit that gave due attention to the tackier aspects of her life without actually dancing on her grave. Others were a little less classy. (No links here, because we don”’t want to reward that kind of behavior with traffic.) Winner of the grand prize for Outstanding Achievement in Crass Exploitation is the paparazzi blog Splash (again, no link for you), which ran the following banner on their site:
Nice going, guys. Way to defeat that ”’paparazzi are subhuman scum”? stereotype. Outside the blogosphere, CNN”’s Jack Cafferty made a strong bid for the jackass award with his on-air bitchfest about the network”’s saturation coverage of Anna Nicole”’s death. However, he was edged out by Rosie O”’Donnell on The View, who complained about the attention Anna Nicole was getting just hours before the former Playmate choked on her own vomit. You can see both videos over at Hot Air. Some might say it”’s wrong to criticize Rosie for something that”’s basically an unfortunate coincidence. Me, I don”’t think so. The way Rosie runs her cake-hole 24/7, the news event of the day could have been anything from a meteor shower to the birth of a two-headed calf, and the odds are good that sometime in the previous 72 hours Rosie would have been inflicting her grating, ill-informed opinion of the topic on her long-suffering cohosts.
Aahh. That felt better. And now, back to our regularly scheduled bile.

I do not have access to CNN and hence and not subjected to their usual monotopic “news” format. I suppose what baffles me at the reception of Smith’s demise – whether from rubber-neckers or the haters – is why anyone beyond her family and friends should imagine her passing to be newsworthy.

I thought Mr. Zsa Zsa Prince Fucktard would be about as appalling as it would get, at least so soon after she died. Those animals at Splash need to be euthanized.
I noticed that there are others who, while refraining from posting the video (not sure if anyone’s gotten their greasy mitts on that one from Splash, though), thought it was entirely appropriate and “newsworthy” to put up the picture of her laying face-down, dead on the hotel floor, though. I guess anything goes when you just GOTTA have that traffic. :sigh:
