On Tuesday, Rihanna took some time out from her busy schedule of questionable hair and fashion choices to appear on Power 105.1’s Ed Lover and Malikha Mallette Show. As usual, she talked about all sorts of stuff: her music, her professional relationship with Drake, and why she greeted a bunch of kids while wearing a necklace that invited them to go fuck themselves. But let’s skip to the important issue: How does Rihanna feel about blogs? The answer may be hidden somewhere in this comment:

[I still read the blogs] sometimes, it depends on what it is I am trying to find out. I’m a lot more numb to it now only because I understand what it is. It’s a community for people who don’t have anything else to do and hate themselves, they hate their life, they hate their job, they hate their appearance, they are uncomfortable with who they are so what makes them feel good is talking smack about other people who they think they will never ever see in their life and they happen to be celebrities. It seems impossible to ever have the opportunity to say these things to their face, so they get to hide behind their computer.

Hmmm. I’m not sure, but I think the takeaway here is that Rihanna hates blogs. And blogging. And bloggers. And people who read blogs, aka “her fans.” I could say more about this, and what it tells us about Rihanna—as a celebrity, an artist, maybe even as a woman—but I don’t want to contribute to her damaging stereotypes. Basically, this whole matter has left me feeling terribly, terribly hurt.
