Oh, this is just brilliant. At Scientology’s Gold Base (located in Gilman Hot Springs, California), security guards have attacked members of Anonymous. The Anons in question were holding signs that largely stated that Scientology’s leader, David Miscavage (BFF of Tom Cruise), beats his staff members (need a little proof?). Well, Scientology’s security guards either are illiterate, didn’t bother reading the protest signs, or have a sick sense of humour, because these goons beat up one protester and actually hogtied another. That’s right — what started as a peaceable protest turned into multiple instances of assault and battery.

Hollywood Interrupted has some exclusive (albeit shakily handheld) video footage of what went down at Gold Base, which is the cult’s international headquarters. Although the protest itself took place outside of Gold Base, the protesters were greeted with air-raid sirens that lasted for the several hours that the group merely stood roadside and held signs. Then, a few Gold Base security guards tampered with a protester’s vehicle and sent up a flare to lure the protesters onto Scientology’s property. When one protester approached, the goons actually hogtied him. Another protester was also physically assaulted. At this point, I find it ridiculous that many people would rather not be bothered with the widely-available knowledge that proves that Scientology is a destructive cult and international money-making operation. It’s rather easy to look past it and label Anonymous protesters as reactionary meddlers, and you may very well safely ignore this topic when it appears at AB and go about your usual morning cruising for boob shots. Please don’t do that just yet.
