Variety is reporting that Sean Penn has pulled out of his two current projects, Cartel and The Three Stooges, in order to spend more time with his children and focus on his troubled marriage. It’s an interesting little story, if by “interesting” you mean, “I wasted thirty seconds reading that?” No, the real interest lies in in a blind item the New York Post ran last week:

WHICH actor is on hiatus due to a drug relapse? He claimed he needed time off because of the heartbreak of his public split, but he’s actually headed to rehab.

Could just be coincidence, of course. They might be talking about an entirely different actor who’s pulling out of his current projects “to spend more time with his family.” That said, Sean Penn is an awful human being on about six different levels, so a coincidence like this couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.
