Okay, I totally realize that our Inglourious Basterds coverage has officially reached critical mass, but those regular readers who’ve been around for several years will remember that, essentially, this is what happens here when a Quentin Tarantino movie comes out. Besides, in the interest of (adequately) full disclosure, I’m actually scheduled to review another new release (at Pajiba, natch) on the weekend that Basterds offically meets the celluloid, so no conflict of interest exists here whatsoever. Quite simply, this is a huge film from one of my very favourite directors, and it’s also a very exciting time for cinema, but you’ll have to see the flick to know what I’m talking about. Ya dig?
In the meantime, this post shall attempt to quickly roundup the latest Basterds goodness, which begins with a preview of the Esquire UK Sept. 2009 issue. This shall be the magazine’s first hardcover collectors’ issue that “comes in a special pinstripe fabric cover designed by Ralph Lauren” and “celebrates the suit.” Several Basterds shall appear in this issue, but, for now, check out this spiffy photo of the hardcover itself as well as a promo of Eli Roth’s appearance:
Speaking of the Bear Jew, Roth will appear on tonight’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Also, a new semi-viral trailer for Nation’s Pride (the Roth-directed film-within-a-film starring Daniel Brühl that plays an extremely pivotal role in Basterds) has popped up, courtesy of the Apple trailer site:
Finally, Diane Kruger and Christoph Waltz continue to soldier through all of the international premieres and covered Australia (Sydney & Melbourne) last weekend. Sooooo, the anticipation continues to accumulate. August 21st, bitches!
