Could it really be true that Shirley Manson, Scottish red-headed vixen extraordinaire, has reunited with the rest of the Garbage boys for an upcoming album and tour? Well, Shirley and her new husband (some American music producer named Billy Bush) were on hand at the University of the West of Scotland to give advice to wayward students, and this news sort of slipped out of the singer’s notoriously foul mouth:

Edinburgh-born Manson, 44, who was previously married to sculptor Eddie Farrell, also confirmed she was recording a new album with her band Garbage. “I;m working on a record right now with the band. We’ve recorded quite a lot but it’s difficult to quantify,” she said.

“It’s the first one in a long time. I took about five years off. I’d like to do some touring next year.” She did not elaborate on the musical direction of the new album or when it would be released. “We’re just winging it right now,” she said.

Rumours of a new release had been circulating since Manson hinted in February that she had been spending time in a recording studio.

Hmm. I guess that solo album got trashed along the way, but at least we’ll always have those memories of Manson as the killer urinal. As for a new Garbage album, let’s just see what happens. At this point, I can’t fucking get excited lately about anything that has to do with music — not even when it comes to the possibility of Shirley Momsen showing Taylor Momsen exactly how it’s done.
