For nearly twenty years now, Kate Moss has been up near the pointy part of the fashion model pyramid. Considering that supermodels age in dog years, that’s like having a normal career that began around 1870. But Kate is growing jaded with this ridiculously long run, and says she’s ready to pack it in for a full time career as a designer—among other reasons, because modeling is “a bit brain damaging”:
Modelling can be a bit brain damaging. Starting my own brand was what I needed to do. I only model if there are such good jobs that you don’t want to say no to.
This would confirm my suspicion that many models are little more than barnyard animals with good bone structure, and stories that So-and-So is just modeling until she completes her degree in marine biology are largely a crock. Moreover, Kate’s own history of sex, drugs, and rock’n’ roll in the form of (*gag*) Pete Doherty would seem to confirm that the girl ain’t all that bright. But she seems pleasant enough, and I hope her career at Topshop is a success. Although fashion design is a risky venture, and it didn’t work out too well for Posh Spice.
