When I was in London in 1999, they had a musical on the West End called "Boyband." That's what this reminded me of; a cheap attempt to cash in on a fleeting trend. If this is where Broadway is headed, I'll just cling to my Rodgers & Hammerstein DVDs and whine about the "good old days" like the other musical fans. American Idol = The Gong Show B-List sitcom stars and the surrealism and never-say-die attitude that made that show a hit.
