I’m trying to decide which song is more annoying and impossible to remove from one’s cranium: “True” by Spandau Ballet or “Careless Whisper” by Wham!
The answer to this question is, of course, completely moot and useless information. You see, I am currently tortured by both songs. (The latter selection comes courtesy of George Michael’s #1 Fan.)
Slight comfort comes from Spandau Ballet’s association with Sixteen Candles and the always yummy Jake Ryan. In contrast, Wham! only brings back memories of blisters sustained at the roller skating rink. This totally sucks.

DAMN YOU!!! Now I’ve got True stuck in mine!
‘True’ never bothered me but I never could stand anything by Wham. The all-time worst song to be stuck in my head is ‘Funky Town’. For those that had forgotten, I apologize.
“Careless Whisper” never bothered me that much, and I actually like “True.” But the music you listen to as an adolescent imprints on you in ways that can never be undone. I think Konrad Lorenz proved that with experiments on baby geese, or something.
For me it’s “Ebony and Ivory”. Pure hell.
Also, I bought that Iron Butterfly CD with “Innagoddadavida” on it a couple years ago. I played it exactly once and could not get that song out of my head for a week. I was seriously considering going to see my doctor about it when it stopped.
I threw it in the garbage.
OK I don’t know if this is your fault or not, but I’ve had “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” by Elton John stuck in my head for the past hour.
I wish someone would take me to Funkytown.
Careless Whisper never bothered me, except I always laughed at the line “guilty feet have got no rhythm.” The Wham song that drove me nuts was “Wake Me Up Before You Go-go.” I always referred to it as “Shut that off before I barf-barf.”
I always get Billy Joel or Elton John songs stuck in my head (it takes awhile to get them out, believe me). Actually, the other day, I was singing “The Tide is High” by Blondie, went into the supermarket and they were playing it too! I got the creeps from that coincidence, I hate it when that happens…makes me feel like I’m being monitored or watched…by who…well, let’s keep that a mystery…please!
