When it comes to pop culture utterances, I think “sugar tits” comes in second only to the less contextually-specific “wanker” in terms of the ability to reduce me to a dissolved pile of giggles. So, I was quite pleased to hear that, at this weekend’s Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards, Brad Pitt accepted an award (on behalf of Fight Club) from Mel Gibson by greeted him with the following words:

“Thanks, sugar t—!” Pitt said to Gibson, who reportedly referred to a female officer by that name during his 2006 DUI arrest.

Pitt then plugged his own movie, “Inglourious Basterds,” and began pumping his fists.

“Thank you for the greatest moment of my f—ing life!” he said to the audience.

Uh-oh. The tabloids are gonna miss that joke and totally read into Brad’s statement, which will spark fake-ass stories that a “fuming” Angelina was “livid” that he didn’t publicly give her such credit. As to Mel Gibson, the all-powerful prophet who deployed the “sugar tits” heard round the world that inspired Trey Parker & Matt Stone’s plea for tolerance, was probably drunk onstage and never really registered Brad’s greeting. Or, at least, Mel didn’t remember a damn thing in the morning. No wonder his current baby mama, Oksana Whatsherfuck, is already threatening to walk out on Mel if he doesn’t clean up.

Other notable presenters and recipients included Mickey Rourke, Ben Stiller (with his frightening current hairdo), Mila Kunis, Halle Berry (attempting to suck the life out of Jamie Foxx), Edward Norton, Eddie Van Halen, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Quentin Tarantino. Also on hand were B.J. Novak and Eli Roth, who looks less than thrilled to be onstage, but, in his defense, he’d probably rather have been watching Drag Me to Hell. Can’t blame the guy, really.

Spike TV will air its Sugar Tits Guys Choice Awards on June 21.
