Poor Tara Reid. The highlight of her acting career, at least as far as the past decade is concerned, has been her appearance as a brilliant anthropologist in a Uwe Boll film. So, she’s finally decided to give up acting and move on to… fashion design:

The American Pie star debuted Mantra – a collection of swimsuits and casual wear decorated with beads and charms – in Las Vegas on Monday. She says, “I feel like I’m in a really great place in my life, and I love what I’m doing. I love acting but I can’t hire myself. If this works, then we’re in business. If not, I tried.”

And Reid is looking to the line for inspiration in other areas of her life. She adds, “It’s about putting into the universe what you want in life: Red means love, pink is friendship, green is lucky, black is protection. You’re gonna have a story when you wear this bikini or when you put this dress on: You’ll either get love or meet a new friend or you might meet a guy.”

And if the actress’ color palette doesn’t help, Reid has developed another solution; her swimsuits feature flirty messages including “Catch Me If You Can” and “Single and Ready to Mingle”.

Bloody hell. This is just a terribly misguided endeavor. The idea of celebrity clothes lines are based upon the idea that civilians wish to emulate the celebrity at hand. Clearly, that is not the case with Reid. In addition, chicks in gerneral really don’t need any help getting “lucky.” If anything, men would certainly appreciate that sort of help, but we’d hate to encourage Reid from designing men’s clothing either. Perhaps it’s just time for Tara to hit the porn circuit, no?
