Kind of a slow news day, but Jessica and Ashlee Simpson probably wish it were even slower. First came the confirmation that Jessica’s movie Blonde Ambition, that slap-in-the-face ripoff of the perfectly decent Eighties movie Working Girl, really is so awful that it’s going straight to DVD. (With a brief detour in Texas, where the movie will open in eight theatres. You must be mighty proud, Lone Star State.) An anonymous source twisted the knife by saying: “The movie is absolutely horrible. It’s just a bomb, mainly because of Jessica’s acting.”

Now comes word that some people are blaming Ashlee Simpson for emo band Fall Out Boy’s total shutout at last week’s Grammy nominations. According to “an anonymous source” (i.e., some guy whom either or both Simpson girls refused to date in high school and is now trying to make their life a living hell with a blizzard of anonymous media leaks):

Grammy voters are fed up with Ashlee after she was caught lip-synching, and her relationship with Pete [Wentz] has definitely affected public opinion of the band…. The guys in Fall Out Boy are furious. They think everything Ashlee touches is poison, and they really want her to stop touching Pete!

Possibly it’s that lame AOL.com ad I posted below, but I can’t help hearing that last line in the voice of Chris Crocker. “Stop touching Pete, Ashlee! Stop touching him!!” The source might or might not have known the Simpson girls in high school, but he’s unquestionably an authentic emo fan.
