The Sliding Scale Of Artistic Integrity: A Carbonated Beverage Perspective

By Agent Bedhead in Adverts, Billy Corgan, Jared Leto, Music

Billy Corgan Jared Leto Axl Rose

Billy Corgan Sues Virgin Records: Corgan is pissed that Virgin Records has persisted in the unauthorized use of the Smashing Pumpkins’ image, name, and likeness within a Pepsi Stuff promotion. Further, Corgan has filed suit and is apparently going for the punitive damages jugular by claiming that the Pumpkins have “worked hard for over two decades to accumulate a considerable amount of goodwill in the eyes of the public,” and, if left unfettered, Virgin may very well wreak havoc on the rock group’s “artistic integrity.” (Thanks to Flea who also has unrelated news on some of the Virgin conglomerate’s past idiocy.)

Jared Leto Happy To Sell Out: Leto and 30 Seconds To Mars got down with their emo selves at My Coke Fest in South Africa. On a junk-food related note, Jared is also still bitching about his pseudo-sellout weight gain and bemoans his persistent lack of hotness: “I don’t know if I’ll ever be back to the place I was physically.” Oh, bullocks. Let’s be honest here — we all miss Jordan Catalano, but we know that ass is gone forever.

Axl Rose Not Even Invited To The Party: Dr. Pepper may taste like total crap infused with prune juice, but someone at the company has a sense of humour, as Dlisted notes: “Dr. Pepper is a major Axl Rose fan. The company announced that everyone in America, except estranged GNR bandmates Slash and Buck[et]head, will receive a free can of Dr. Pepper if Axl releases Chinese Democracy in 2008. Axl has been working on that shit for over 10 years.” Hey, at least it’s not The Spaghetti Incident.

1) Who?

2) Who? (Damn I must be getting old.)

3) Will anyone listen to it? Do I have to buy it to get the free soda? Because if I do, forget it. GnR hasn’t recorded anything worth listening to since 1989.
