Fans of Jennifer Aniston’s love life—and anyone who follows a story that dreary and pointless has probably read The Bell Jar more than once—will be pleased to hear that Jennifer and her boy toy John Mayer are once again an item. John was quite the jerk when he broke off the relationship, but now he’s kissing ass in all sorts of ways: sending Jen gooey text messages (a nice change from the message he used to tell her she was history), writing her songs, and promising to quit smoking and make all those other changes he couldn’t be bothered to make the first time around. Amazingly Jennifer appears to be buying it, at least to a certain extent:

It’s still early days though and Mayer is by no means out of the doghouse. He still has some serious grovelling and making up to do. But so far things are going well, and both parties are hopeful of a long-term reconciliation.”

One possible reason for John’s surprising turnaround and Jen’s conditional acceptance might be that John is about to become her baby daddy. This is so precisely the sort of awful, poorly thought out decision that people make in real life that it almost sounds plausible. But so far, nobody’s actually confirmed the theory, and it’s probably just baseless speculation. Let’s hope so, because once the thrill of makeup sex wears off, the next Aniston/Mayer breakup probably isn’t more than six months and an album of sad, sad John Mayer songs down the road.
