Rumor has it that Canada held an election recently, which means that our neighbor to the north will continue to groan beneath the iron heel of the Sweater-Vested One. Unfortunately, outside Canada the Conservatives’ victory was forced off the front pages by the press of current events—the long overdue death of some asshole in Pakistan, and the release of British Glamour’s list of the Best and Worst Dressed Women for 2011. Emma Watson tops the Best Dressed list, which seems reasonable enough, and the rest of the top ten are arguable but unsurprising. (Same for the Worst Dressed, although I think only British chauvinism let Katie Price edge out Gaga and Taylor Momsen.) The real surprise comes at #21, where spunky young filly Suri Cruise is coming up fast on an outside track:

A terrifyingly young entry into the Glamour style poll is five-year-old Suri Cruise, who came 21st in the magazine’s annual poll. Suri, the daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, has been at the centre of controversy after being pictured wearing high heels.

Not bad work, for someone who’s roughly one-fourth Emma’s age. It would be delightful if this news, combined with the intriguing parenting practices of Scientology, didn’t mean that in fifteen years we’ll be looking at Paris Hilton on steroids and a megadose of Human Growth Hormone. Unfortunately, not all child celebrities turn out as well as Emma Watson.
