Every year, Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals manages, somehow, to persuade a couple of very special celebrities to participate in a drag show. This is a sort of honour towards those who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment”. [sic] This year, the man of the year prize went to Christopher Walken, the 64-year old king of cool (notwithstanding Balls Of Fury):
Walken sang a tune from the musical Hairspray during the performance and took part in a sketch involving cow-bells, which parodied an earlier appearance of his on the US TV show Saturday Night Live.
He said he was “amazed and thrilled” to receive his prize, although he joked: “I hope nobody’s watching.”
The Oscar-winning star of films such as The Deer Hunter and Last Man Standing also recalled how he had acted on the same stage in Cambridge, Massachusetts “in a play about 20 years ago”. [sic]
The Hasty Pudding woman of the year is Charlize Theron, who was honoured last week. Past winners of the Hasty Pudding Award include Martin Scorseze, Scarlett Johansson, Halle Barry, and Richard Gere.
During his acceptance speech, Walken stated that “a couple of drinks” would have helped prior to appearing onstage in an orange-coloured brassiere and campy wig. Ivy Leaguers are weird.

I love Walken, but this award is nothing comoared to the true honor bestowed upon a certain cultured and ironic young woman we have all come to know and love:
