This Could Be the End of Scientology

By Mr. Atoz in Peaches Geldof, Scientology, Smoking Bolts

One of the nice things about covering celebrity trainwrecks is that, before the wreckage from the last has been cleared away, a new one will come chugging down the tracks. Lindsay Lohan and Amy Winehouse are too depressing and repetitive to write about these days, but this Peaches Geldof person is looking mighty promising. After all, even LiLo and Amy never seriously considered stepping into the loving arms of Xenu.

Apparently Peaches’ interest in the cult dates back to her brief stint as a columnist for Nylon last year. Peaches interviewed Katie Holmes for the magazine, and was smitten by her robotic, purdah-like existence. She and TomKat became fast friends, and Peaches decided to look more deeply into their, umm, unusual beliefs:

Peaches was very impressed by Katie, she loved interviewing her and really wanted to become friends with her. She thought that taking up Scientology would be the perfect springboard to work her way into that New York clique. She knows her dad won’t be happy about it but she feels it will help her move into bigger and better celeb circles, so she is willing to keep up with her studies to become a fully fledged Scientologist.

The Peaches-esque spin on this, of course, is her deeply spiritual motive for joining the cult: meeting big-name celebs. That’s like becoming a Catholic so you can get into Bingo Night.
