Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor totally hit the sheets together in the upcoming I Love You, Phillip Morris. This promotional billboard, while clearly not as exploitative as this atrocious mess, still seems rather insincere. Somehow, I get the idea that Carrey signed up for this film to diversify his acting portfolio, and he probably believes that playing a gay man is somehow ironic when it comes to his own obvious virile masculinity. McGregor, of course, is wholly above suspicion, but I do miss that mole of his. As to the film itself, here is imdb synopsis:
The movie is a true story of Steven Russell (Carrey), a married father whose exploits landed him in the Texas criminal justice system. He fell madly in love with his cellmate (Ewan McGregor), who eventually was set free, which led Russell to escape from Texas prisons four times.
Throughout the film, each of Russell’s escapes from prison results from progressively elaborate plans, and the loved-up dude even once tries to fake his own death. Finally, Russell ends up with a 100+ year sentence because of his bad behavior and escape attempts. As a result, poor Russell is left only with his own masturbatory fantasies and the anguish over what might have been. Awwwww.
Look, we don’t care whether Carrey and McGregor are boning or not in this movie. All we really want is a good film. After expressing such a sentiment, my fag hag card will be undoubtedly confiscated by my gay boyfriend, who will say that my music collection has never been disco-oriented enough anyway.
