Not only didn't he bother with an accent, he didn't bother with any acting, either. He's talking about something that will almost certainly get him killed (and half the people he knows), and sounds like he's planning a vacation in the Alps. I think the Germans were concerned at first that this might glorify Nazis, but then they realized that Tom Cruise would be in it and no one would watch it anyway.
