Those of you who don’t follow the Brit rock scene would never know it, but Pete Doherty really does lead a (more or less) critically acclaimed musical career. So, when NME put together its “Top 50 Albums Since 2000″ list, it’s not terribly surprising that Doherty’s bands snatched three of the coveted slots: [2] The Libertines Up The Bracket (produced by Mick Jones of the Clash); [24] The Libertines The Libertines; and [35] Babyshambles Down In Albion. Also pulling multiple entries were Radiohead and The White Stripes, so check out the entire list here and visit NME.com for further details.
On a related note, when Popbitch reveals that Pete’s neighbours hear him “singing his own songs when he comes back in the early hours of the morning,” well, let’s just say that the bloke has actually earned that little privilege.

Good lord.
Sorry, that was a bit cryptic. What I mean to say is I cannot quite believe what I am reading. Three of the top fifty? Three? Really?
There had better be more than three Girls Aloud albums in the list.
Well, go read the list then, mate!
Actually, I’m a bit suprised that Babyshambles’ first record made the list. Their follow-up record, Shotter’s Nation, was of better quality & packed much more of a punch. It was more of a group effort instead of coming off like a notebook full of Doherty scribbles and random riffs.
But The LIbertines… have you ever listened… I mean really listened to their albums? Very impressive, and it’s sad that they had to disband.
