Trent Reznor Protests Use Of His Music For Torture; Gives It Away To "Fringe"

By Bedhead in Music, Television, Trent Reznor

While Trent Reznor may technically be celebrating his honeymoon, not even that can stop him from making news. Reznor has joined forces with many other musicians (Tom Morello, Billy Bragg, David Byrne, Pearl Jam, Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M., Rise Against, The Roots) to protest use of music to torture detainees at Guantanamo Bay and seek the declassifications of related secret documents. Tons of information is available here, thanks to a tip from Seriously? OMG! WTF?. The above video clip shows a live performance of Nine Inch Nails’ “March of the Pigs,” one of the songs allegedly used for the abovementioned torture. (Clip comes by way of VodkaPundit with press approval on the part of Reznor & NIN.)

On a much lighter note, Reznor has tapped out a quick note on his Twitter page: “Happy birthday, old friend. Pretty Hate Machine turns 20.” Finally, the Rez has revamped a Nine Inch Nails tune, “Zero-Sum,” for use in a “Fringe” promo spot that you can watch here. Reznor also reportedly refused compensation for the promo’s use of the song because, “I just want to have fun and be part of something cool.” Well played, Rez.
