Mister Pete Doherty was a no-show for a recent DJ gig at Leeds’ Gatecrasher club, which was holding its Summer Sound System event. Thousands of fans had arrived at £40-a-pop to see the unlikely mixmaster work his mojo, but apparently Pete forgot all about this pesky appointment. When club owners realized the omission, they recruited Celebrity Big Brother cast member and Ordinary Boys lead singer, Preston, to fill Doherty’s dirty shoes:
Clubber Kate Appleton, 24, said: “I really came to see Pete play so I feel a bit conned. Preston was good though, he was on stage by himself getting really into the music.”
As one might expect, Pete is notoriously late and/or absent for gigs. Most notably, after Pete failed to show up for a Libertines gig in Aberdeen, angry fans rocked the tour bus while an unconscious Doherty overdosed within. We’re guessing that at that point, he didn’t much mind the commotion.

Mostly off topic, but while watching the American Masters episode on Ahmet Ertegun, it struck me how much Pete looks like a young Jimmy Page. I haven’t seen too many pictures of LZ back in the day, but from what I saw was eerie how much they look alike.
